The COVID-19 crisis has prevented what has for many years been a key part of students' education -- study abroad. Whereas student travel to Russia is no longer possible, we have sought to bring Russia to the students instead.
"Voronezh - New Horizons" is very much a product of the current age. It is a virtual collaboration between Russian students on the one hand and English-speaking students who would have otherwise spent their summer in Russia on the other. It is both a response to what is and an experiment in what could be.
Behind it are four organisation -- Crossroads Eurasia, a veteran organiser of short-term internships in Russia, its long-time local partners -- RFL/RUS language academy and the Downtown Journal -- , and Calvert Journal, the world's leading publication on art and culture of the New East.
The project stays true to the spirit of all Crossroads Eurasia internships. A valuable work experience in its own right, it is also a reason to interact with Russia's values, language, and people. It allows students to look up from the textbook and meet Russia, today's Russia, on their own terms.
Based near Washington DC, Crossroads Eurasia has over 10 years of experience bringing native English speakers to Russia for short-term internships. Internships are are open to students of all levels of Russian. Click below to explore Crossroads Eurasia's other programs.
The world’s leading publication for culture, innovation, photography and travel in the New East. In its daily features, news, photography and travel reports, The Calvert Journal stands apart for its wealth of original research, striking photography, and clarity of insight on a region that, despite its richness, often goes under-reported.
